Merchant Quickstart

The merchant onboarding flow is a guided wizard at merchant.firmly.ai — Firmly handles integration on its side; you handle forms and toggles on yours. The wizard has two Firmly-reviewed gates (KYB approval, Go-live approval); the rest is largely self-serve. There’s no separate sandbox or trial mode — onboarding IS the path to live. Before real customers transact, Firmly places test orders against your store as part of its go-live review, so your store is verified end-to-end before launch (see Going Live).

 The path

 Sign up at merchant.firmly.ai

Open merchant.firmly.ai and click Start Onboarding on the welcome page.

The signup form collects:

  • Store URL
  • Work email (must match the store URL domain)
  • Full name, job title, company name, location
  • Optional phone number

Submitting creates both your merchant tenant and your primary-owner user in one round trip.

 Verify your work email

A 6-digit code is sent to the work email you submitted. Type the code on the next step. You’re now signed in.

You land in the onboarding task menu

Your first stop after signup is the 7-task wizard menu. Two tasks are Firmly-driven (you have no “Start” button); five are yours to complete.

Submit them in order — KYB gates everything else. You can start KYB right away; Firmly’s integration task (Task 1) runs in parallel in the background.

 Complete Know Your Business (KYB)

Fill in Company Info (Company Name, Online Revenue band — both required) and submit for review. Firmly reviews and either approves or rejects with notes.

See KYB.

 Configure catalog, destinations, agreement

Once KYB is approved, the next three tasks unlock:

Each is a single form or toggle page; saving advances the wizard.

 (If needed) Complete CDN whitelisting

You don’t need to diagnose this yourself. Firmly determines whether CDN whitelisting applies during integration. The task appears in your wizard only if you must complete it. Use Web Bot Auth or a merchant-specific header rule when possible. Use IP allowlisting only as a fallback.

Most merchants don’t need this step — CDN whitelisting applies only when your CDN/WAF actively blocks Firmly’s traffic. See CDN whitelisting.

 Submit for Go-Live approval

Once your tasks are done and Firmly has finished its side of the integration, you press “Submit for Go-Live”. Your tenant moves to Awaiting approval, and Firmly’s review team then approves (you’re live) or rejects with notes. The submission is yours; the review is Firmly’s.

 Prerequisites

  • Store URL (the public storefront URL Firmly connects to; you do not hand over admin credentials)
  • Privacy policy and terms-of-use URLs
  • Brand assets — logo, primary brand color
  • Knowledge of any custom checkout rules or scope restrictions
  • The geographies you ship to (asked about during the onboarding conversation with Firmly, alongside the wizard, rather than as a wizard step)

 What you do NOT need

  • API credentials (for industry-standard platforms; headless / composable / custom platforms have a short credential handoff conversation alongside the wizard)
  • Frontend code changes (for most stores)
  • Customer PII
  • An App ID (App IDs are for destinations calling Firmly’s API, not for merchants)

 What’s next

After signup, the Merchant Portal flips between two states:

Until you’re live After you’re live
Shows the onboarding task menu Shows the dashboard with KPIs, orders breakdowns, recent orders

See Merchant Portal for what comes after go-live.
