Know Your Business (KYB)

The merchant tells Firmly who they are — company information, branding, and legal documents — and submits the company information for Firmly to verify their business. KYB approval is the gate that unlocks the rest of the Onboarding Wizard.

Post-onboarding, the same surface is the merchant’s general account-settings page.

 The three tabs

The KYB / general settings page is organized as three tabs:

 Company Info

The KYB form itself. Required fields for submission:

  • Company Name
  • Online Revenue band

Plus optional but encouraged:

  • Employee Count
  • Headquarters address (Street, City, State, Postal Code, Country)

 Brand Identity

  • Display Name
  • Primary brand color
  • Action color
  • Logo (large image upload)

These values feed into the drop-in checkout (the Firmly-rendered checkout shown on destination surfaces) the merchant’s buyers see.

 Terms & Privacy

  • Link to the merchant’s privacy policy
  • Link to the merchant’s terms of use

 The submission flow

Once the merchant has filled in (at minimum) Company Name and Online Revenue and saved their changes, a Submit for Review call to action appears below the Company Info form. Pressing it transitions KYB to pending and notifies Firmly’s reviewers. The expected review turnaround is communicated during onboarding, so the merchant knows when to expect a decision rather than waiting without a timeline.

Combined save-and-submit when coming from onboarding. When the merchant arrives at this page via the onboarding task menu and KYB hasn’t been submitted yet, the sticky footer’s primary action becomes Submit for Review — saving the form and submitting for review are merged into a single button.

 KYB status banner

The top of the Company Info tab shows the current KYB status:

Status What the merchant sees
pending “Your information is being reviewed by Firmly” — submit button hidden
approved Green “Business Verified” confirmation — submit button hidden
rejected Reviewer’s notes inline, also surfaced against the KYB task in the wizard — merchant sees exactly what to fix

Why KYB is the wizard’s first gate

KYB is the only onboarding step that requires explicit Firmly review. Until it’s approved, every later step in the wizard stays locked. This prevents a half-configured store from progressing while Firmly is still verifying who the merchant is.
