Agentic Commerce

 Firmly handles the commerce

A single integration with Firmly reaches every connected merchant — no per-destination work for the merchant, no per-merchant work for the destination.

 How it fits together

How Firmly fits between AI surfaces and merchants — the destination owns the experience, Firmly owns the commerce, the merchant remains the seller

The destination owns the user-facing experience (chat, voice, wallet UI, app surface). Firmly owns discovery across merchants, cart orchestration, payment, order placement to the merchant’s native platform, and affiliate attribution. Tax and shipping are calculated by the merchant’s platform and returned through the cart — Firmly relays them, it doesn’t compute them.

 Use cases at a glance

These are common patterns destinations build on Firmly — recognizable shapes, not an exhaustive list. Every destination type can use any combination of them.

See Use Cases for the full menu with a comparison table mapping each use case to its closest flow, integration pattern, and recipe.

 Three layers of the platform

Discovery Search across connected merchant catalogs and return rich product detail — with live price and stock validation at the merchant.
Cart & Checkout Build the cart, then set shipping address and method. The cart returns merchant-calculated tax and totals. Collect payment via card, PayPal, Klarna, Click to Pay, or Agentic Pay (Network Token Router for autonomous agents).
Order Placement Submit the order to the merchant’s native platform, across industry-standard and custom commerce platforms alike. Firmly’s scope ends here — the merchant’s existing back-office workflows pick up from there.

What Firmly handles (so the destination doesn’t have to)

  • Affiliate attribution — Firmly relays the originating destination to the merchant so affiliate commissions and attribution flow back without manual reconciliation.
  • Tax and shipping — the merchant’s platform calculates these from its live rules; Firmly relays the results in the cart, and neither Firmly nor the destination computes them.
  • Inventory and price validation — every quote is re-validated against the merchant’s current state before order placement.
  • Payment tokenization and PCI handling — handled at the payment layer.
  • Order placement format — orders land in the merchant’s order management system as if a customer placed them directly, so the destination doesn’t fight per-merchant integration formats.

 Which protocol fits your stack

Firmly speaks UCP, MCP, and ACP, plus direct REST. See Protocols for the comparison. The flows and integration patterns on this page apply regardless of which protocol you pick.
